tcc Tiny C Compiler

The TCC compiler produces standard ELF binaries for Linux and Windows as well as 'runnable' bash scripts in standard C. Just put '#!/usr/local/bin/tcc -run' as the first line of your script. TCC is many times faster than GCC because it performs direct compilation without intermediate bytecode, linking or assembly steps. Your ISOC99 code can be made safer with optional bounds and memory checks.

What works

Everything works on wine as well as on linux.

To compile a windows test program, 'cd' to the examples folder:

wine ../tcc hello_win.c

wine hello_win.exe

What does not

The following are known issues: (not wine specific)
  • does not compile wine
  • has difficulty with certain compiler tests inside 'configure'.
  • does not understand many GCC command line options, like -pedantic
  • there is no IDE. Use quincy or, better yet, an advanced Linux-based text editor, like SciTE.
