I actually installed and try to run the game with Ubuntu's default Wine, 1.0.1. When writing this report, it didn't list Wine 1.0.1 however, telling me to upgrade if I didn't have 1.1.20. So I upgraded and tried the game again, only making things worse: first you get an error saying "File Find Error - sound\common.snd!". When you click "OK" you get "The instruction at 0041bb0c referenced memory at 00fe1000. The memory could not be written.", which is supported by what console output says: "wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00fe1000 at address 0x41bb0c (thread 0030), starting debugger...". So I guess, if you're going to try, try with Wine 1.0.1.
