Additional Comments

To install the GoG (Good Old Games) version of this game, follow the below instructions. Open a console and type the following commands in order: WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/nwn winetricks ddr=gdi WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/nwn winetricks d3dx9 droid winxp WINEPREFIX=~/.local/share/wineprefixes/nwn wine /path/to/directory/setup_nwn_diamond.exe Then once the install is done, browse to the "~/.local/share/wineprefixes/nwn" and edit the nwn.ini file to say the following lines under [Display Options]: FullScreen=0 AllowWindowedMode=1 Then save. It is preferred to play using the above windowed mode in order to not mess your desktop after exiting the game. You will have to chose a resolution that fits into your desktop under the configuration menu in the launcher window before launching the game. // MY EDIT I didn't have to edit any of the nwn.ini file. I set wine to launch a virtual desktop instead, at the resolution of my monitor. Much cleaner in my opinion // END Now you can launch the game. PS: Last but not the least, if you cannot see your character when playing the game, open the options menu then go to the video section and uncheck the "Creature Environment Mapping" option. Good luck.

HowTo / Notes

Getting Neverwinter Nights to work on ATI Cards

Multiple users reported that Neverwinter Nights might present problems when running it on a machine with an ATI card.

In order to avoid that, rename the main program file nwmain.exe to something else, like nwmain2.exe. The driver seems to try some optimizations otherwise, which are actually backfiring and causing issues with the game.

HOWTO - Find patches
IGN doesn't host the patches anymore either

They can now be found here: http://neverwintervault.org/patches

Resolution wrong if not in virtual desktop
by YaoMitachi on Thursday February 5th 2015, 0:15
Though I had the game set to run at 1920x1080, it ended up being scaled down with black bars around the game, and everything was fuzzy. If I run the game in a virtual desktop at that size, it works fine. Using an AMD card.
