Impulse automatically updates itself to the latest version whenever it is run if connected to Internet.
Note that there is two different installers, difference to be tested. The standard one, also labeled "Impulse Client - Vista/Windows 7" :

It allowed me to download some of my games. If I had to guess what they had in common, it seems like the games updated after 2010 are the ones that have problems. Not sure why.

Download winetricks by running the following code in terminal :-
wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
Now we need to install some winetricks packages to get Impulse running properly. Run the code below in a Terminal :-
sh winetricks dotnet20 gdiplus
Note that the impulse installer will appear to crash, but just dismiss the error and the installation will continue as normal.
