What works
Once installed almost all features work without any flaws.
Note: In order to run it appears as though you must set mscvrt.dll to native for the application psp.exe in winecfg otherwise the application will not run as smoothly and may crash.
What does not
The automatic rollups for the toolboxes cause it so that you cannot see the overview window, the layers window and the tool options window. An easy fix to this is to go to View --> Toolbars... and then uncheck the automatic rollups option.
You cannot do a print screen and get it into the application, however copy and pasting text appears to work just fine. A workaround to this is to save a screenshot as a file that is in a directory that PSP can access and then open the file. Also copy and pastes within the application work fine, with the keyboard shortcuts and the menus.
Minor issues with the minimize button not being available, so you cannot minimize the application, however you can rollup the window and also bring other windows on top of it. The windows inside PSP, for your images, can however be minimized and maximized.
Animation Shop appears to crash after showing the splash screen.

Ok - the problem isn't with PSP or wine, the problem is with the
xorg.conf file. There's a configuration in there for Wacom drawing
tablets, which is what's causing the "input device not found" error.
(the "err:region:CombineRgn Invalid rgn=(nil)" message can be ignored.)
To fix in ubuntu:
in a terminal, type
sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf
(don't just click on the text editor and open from the GUI, as you'll only have read-only rights to the file.)
Once inside the file, put a '#' in front of the following:
InputDevice "stylus" "SendCoreEvents"
InputDevice "cursor" "SendCoreEvents"
InputDevice "eraser" "SendCoreEvents"
Then do the same thing with the following entries:
--------------------->8----------------
Section "InputDevice"
# /dev/input/event
# for USB
Identifier "stylus"
Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/wacom" # Change to
Option "Type" "stylus"
Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4" # Tablet PC ONLY
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
# /dev/input/event
# for USB
Identifier "eraser"
Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/wacom" # Change to
Option "Type" "eraser"
Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4" # Tablet PC ONLY
EndSection
Section "InputDevice"
# /dev/input/event
# for USB
Identifier "cursor"
Driver "wacom"
Option "Device" "/dev/wacom" # Change to
Option "Type" "cursor"
Option "ForceDevice" "ISDV4" # Tablet PC ONLY
EndSection
