What works

The usual gameplay is fully working with Gracia Part 2 NA client.

What does not

Keyboard security driver cannot be loaded (error message can be safely ignored) Water textures (sea, waterfalls) are sometimes used as floor (grass) , when you are near the water source. Trees can be sometimes seen through the hills (transparent texturing), sometimes you can see thru the walls (NPC inside buildings or mobs) Taking a screenshot with printscreen button makes the game crash. The game does not start unless Option.ini has L2Shader=True , getting DirectX runtime bug, however this option can be disabled in game in order to get better FPS and less graphic artefacts (later will need to set that option True again, to start the game) DirectX runtime error can appear too when starting game in fullscreen or in a window, I use "Emulate Virtual desktop" option and run game "fullscreen" , that actually appear as a window. Switching skill panels with ALT+Fn can be catched by Window Manager, will need to disable or remap keyboard bindings, otherwise switch skill panels with mouse

What was not tested

Everything has been tested. I run my own private server and play a lot. Game Installation has not been tested, however the Updater runs fine and i was able to upgrade an older installation to newer chronicles.

Additional Comments

I set bronze rating because the game needs special things for gameplay 1) unable to play on official, only private servers 2) need a modified client with removed protections, which is against the game client EULA.

HowTo / Notes

If playing with an ATI graphics card, there will be some settings that won't work.

Under certain circumstances, system-freezes with no apparent reason can happen.

Its not tested on Official servers. It may work, it may not. You always risk to get your account banned (of Official). Client modding is against Lineage II EULA.

This method is not that hard but requires -some- knowledge.

What you will need:
Internet, a Linux with installed VGA drivers, a private server with gameguard check disabled (like RaidFight), Patience.

  1. Install Lineage 2 Gracia: Part 2, update client.
  2. Get patched system:
  3. Remove/backup old system and use the one provided above.
  4. Get Tahoma font, and place it inside ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/fonts - without it you will see no text in game:
  5. Install Wine. I used wine from Ubuntu repositories working perfect. Try the one from Ubuntu repositories and if doesn't work use the one from Official Wine Website:
  6. Setup Wine, run winecfg and set compatibility mode to Windows XP (not always necessary).
  7. Open /etc/hosts as root. Enter server IP, space (or TAB) and Example:
  8. Run Game
If you get disconnected after ~30 seconds, remember!
Server needs to have GameGuard check disabled. If not, you will get disconnected after ~30 seconds. To fix this, ask your server Administrator to disable gameguard check.
