I didn't had to simulate the wine desktop to 1280x1024, it worked good even without it. - Remember to install your graphics card driver, as when I didn't installed them, it had bad animations (though it worked). HW: intel i7 2600K 3.4GHz, nVidia GTX 560 Ti, 8GB 1600MHz.
