HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
General instructions
  1. Install the game - this should be take any problem
  2. Start the game. Go to Options -> Visuals -> Advanced Settings and set Decals to Off

For fglrx users:

Use wine-1.3.6 or revert commit f0b0c1b1dddf606177651deb45c0afd6259076aa as described in RegressionTesting wiki page

Workarounds for known bugs:
  • Crash when moving between chapters:
    1. In menu, set Visuals to "Low" and accept.
    2. Go to the tram panel (if you are moving on tram), stay at left of it, looking at panel.
    3. Press "E" single-time, very shortly. Make sure, that you are not moving mouse at this time.
    4. Don't touch your mouse or press any keys until game will suggest you to save your progress.

If it crashed anyway (there will be clutch in the sound and no "Chapter complete" message will appear), run console blindly and type wineserver -k.

  • Crash when cutting some part of enemy:

Switch off "Decals" in Options -> Visuals -> Advanced Settings

  • Mouse cursor in menu isn't visible:

To navigate in menu use arrows to control selection, Enter on non-submenu option is "accept", ESC - "cancel". Or you may try to guess mouse position watching at highlights.

  • Maximum resolution in in-game settings lower than actual maximum:

Play with Virtual Desktop enabled: winecfg -> Graphics -> Emulate Virtual Desktop and set size for it matching your desktop resolution. Also you probably want to disable window decorations. Enabling Virtual Desktop is commonly a good this to do, as it guaranties you, that application won't mess your current resolution up, if something would go wrong.

  • Camera always looking up:

Disconnect your gamepad before starting a game or try joypad.txt file from comments below.
