What works

  • Installation (with or without English patch) - instruction below
  • In-game menu
  • Save/load
  • Music/sounds (works fine with ALSA)
  • Story-mode
  • Training
  • Battle-mode
  • Omake menu (Art Appreciation, Music Appreciation, Battle Data, Benchmark Test)
  • Encyclopedia

What does not

  • Cut-scenes (they just don't seem to load - only black screen with arrow sign on the bottom)
  • Omake Menu (Replay Scene - as the cut-scenes don't seem to load, they are still locked in this menu)
  • In-game cursor (it works but becomes invisible in main menu - still you can move your mouse and selected elements get highlighted, so it's usable; there's no such problem in the game itself; if your cursor disappears just enter Options menu and change it's type (Anime, Color, Monochrome) and it will appear again)

Workarounds

What was not tested

  • P/ECE transfer
  • Finishing the game (I've played for quite few hours and there were no problems so far)

Additional Comments

I installed the game from an .iso file and so I had to mount it: mount /path/to/iso.iso /mnt/iso -o loop And then: chmod 0744 /dev/loop0 Without it the installer complains that there's no DVD to read from. If, after installation, the game states the same (no DVD) - try to chmod the loop once again. These two easy steps were first mentioned by ChALkeR (author of the previous test result), so all thanks goes to him/her. Why gold rating? It requires us to chmod one thing and the cut-scenes just don't load. Yet the game is highly playable, so these two things should not affect the gameplay as such. For those who are interested in the cut-scenes - watch the Utawarerumono anime. Afterwards you just know what was supposed to be shown in that exact moment.
