Additional Comments
here's what i did: On a new wine installation, use winetricks for corefonts, allfonts, dcom98. This also sets native overrides for some OLE dlls. With winecfg, set default overrides for ole32, oleaut32, rpcrt4 back to builtin, native. Leave Version to be WinXP. Install AVR Studio and WinAVR. With winecfg, set overrides only for AVR Studio to native, builtin (ole32, oleaut32, rpcrt4). Plugin-Manager also works.

To run AVR Studio, you should install following with winetricks:
- corefonts
- dcom98
- gdiplus
- gecko
- mdac28
- msxml3
- vcrun2005
- allfonts
- fakeie6
The compiler itself should run without that, it is just for the GUI/IDE.
