What works

The software installs flawlessly in this version of Wine. I now have also managed to install the software updates. You need to do a chmod -R a+w in your .wine directory (or at least the Program directory for the tax programme). After that, the manual update worked without problems. In addition, I needed to make some links to account for bad programming: the program seemed to complain because of missing license files (which were present). So I had to make links from the english profile directory (under windows/profiles) to 'Dokumente und Einstellungen' and some other link from 'Application Data' to 'Anwendungsdaten'. Then, the program would find the necessary license files.

What does not

seems to work well, although it keeps complaining about some minor issues with loading files from an older version (no effect other than a nagging popup window once you open the file detected).

Additional Comments

I had problems with wine 1.1.09 and the linked bugs. Somehow, the workaround with changing the file permissions worked, as suggested in the discussion groups for the bugs.
