Followed the HOWTO posted previously to improve performance. You must close the "fate.exe" process manually for the game to be playable again. else you will only have an information window saying "Fate/stay night - Translated by mirror moon" and nothing happens later.

Modify the settings in the userconf.exe file that comes with the game to use gdi directly (can be rather difficult as it's all in japanese).

The game will give and error and not allow you to continue gameplay when attempting to play videos. A workaround for this issue is to simply delete the video.xp3 file found in the working directory.
