I erased video.xp3 because of crashes, afaik there are two quite short videos in the game, so I didn't spend much time trying to solve this.

Modify the settings in the userconf.exe file that comes with the game to use gdi directly (can be rather difficult as it's all in japanese).

The game will give and error and not allow you to continue gameplay when attempting to play videos. A workaround for this issue is to simply delete the video.xp3 file found in the working directory.
