What works

Installation works fine on a fresh ~./wine directory after installing fonts with "winetricks corefonts". Working Desktop Starter is also created. Installation of Adobe flash plugin works fine. Browsing several pages worked without problems, e.g. acid2-test, acid3-test and youtube. Flash and javascript don't seem to cause any problems at all. Big parts of the menu seem to work, including print-preview, many settings, history...

What does not

https:// pages definitely don't get loaded at all. Adding bookmarks does not work, Safari freezes and has to be killed. Some security settings freeze Safari.

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
Installing and Running Safari
(recommend to use latest wine)
  1. Download winetricks (http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks) and run
    sh winetricks corefonts flash
(corefonts prevents a crash; flash lets you view flash pages.)
  2. Download Safari 3.2 "for Windows XP or Vista" (without Quicktime) from http://www.apple.com/safari/ and run it with
    wine SafariSetup.exe
Deselect Install Bonjour for Windows and Install Apple Software Update.

  3. Start Safari.exe from ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Safari/.
