AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)

What works

Most Everything - Oddball Install. Oddball Start.

1. First install IEs4linux's IE6 (DO NOT RUN INSTALLER or IE6 AS ROOT!!!).
2. While using IE6, go to AIM's website to download AIM 5.9.
3. Click Link to start download, THEN choose OPEN/RUN file to install.
4. After installation, program starts automatically - either log in or create a new username and set a password.

1. In IE6, go to File -> Open, then in the Open Dialog box click on "Browse".
2. Go to higher file folder "Program Files\AIM".
3. Make sure that "Files of Type" is set to "All files".
4. Choose aim.exe, and click "Open".

Additional Comments

Location to install must be inside of /home/username/.ies4linux directory. Don't try to install to /home/username/.wine directory.
