What works

Installation:
The autorun program on the CD works. The setup program installs fine, but when it is finished it gives a warning about not being able to self-register some dll files. It is not critical as the setup program continues to the "finish" screen

The warning is:
File(s) failed to self-register
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\COMDLG32.DLL
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\DemiseBmp.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\DemiseSec.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\DemiseSound.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\DemiseView.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\Graph3D.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\GraphOGL.dll
C:\Program Files\Artifact Entertainment\GraphSWR.dll

Running The Game:
When using winver 95+ it gives the following error when I start the game
fixme:vxd:VXD_Open Unknown/unsupported VxD L"sice.vxd". Try setting Windows version to 'nt40' or 'win31'.
fixme:vxd:VXD_Open Unknown/unsupported VxD L"siwvid.vxd". Try setting Windows version to 'nt40' or 'win31'.
fixme:vxd:VXD_Open Unknown/unsupported VxD L"ntice.vxd". Try setting Windows version to 'nt40' or 'win31'.
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address 0x4262a2 (thread 0009), starting debugger...

So, setting the winver to nt4 makes the game run and show the splash screen, but bail out at the cd check

Applying the 1.00r3.1patch and a "no-cd" patched executable makes the game run even further, and show the menu. The initial "welcome to Demise" dialog is non-dismissable and does no respond to clicks on the "ok".
Killing the game and restarting it results in an infinite stream of
dialog boxes telling me "Invalid procedure call or argument" continue?
Yes spawns a new dialog, and no shuts down.

What does not

Gameplay, the main menu, everything except first splash screen, and installation
