Program installed correctly by installing the wine gecko engine manually (not with winetricks) by following the instructions at http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko and then also installing msxml6 and ie6 using winetricks. Fireworks initially crashed on launch but after installing gdiplus with winetricks it launched successfully. Program was very stable and worked very well.
What does not
Occasionally the menus would not vanish after removing the mouse from off of them causing the workspace so cluttered it was not easily useable. The only workaround I have found for this is to close fireworks and launch it again.
