In order to get installer to even function, needed to start with a clean wine profile, Gecko hack listed by others as well msxml6 and ie6 from winetricks.

I first installed wine 1.0.9, and then wine 1.1.15. This may caused problem. Eventually, I deleted all wine directories in home directory, and started over again. This time the installation program showed up!!
