Additional Comments

I have tested it with an ATI card (fglrx), I suspect that owners of Nvidia cards do have a working flashlight.

Not an ambiturner
by Yfrwlf on Sunday May 24th 2009, 1:32
Can ONLY turn left. Everything seems to render correctly, but once I get in-game, it's like someone is holding the turn left key down or something and I just sit there and spin. No other games do this, tried changing the key configuration for "left" to something else and it didn't help. Only thing I didn't do was try unplugging my mouse and keyboard, but it can't be that as no other programs have this issue, Wine or Linux.

Anyone else get the same problem?

ati support???
by Jarek on Friday May 8th 2009, 7:44
when i start the demo this will be prompt:
fixme:thread:NtSetInformationThread info class 17 not supported yet

this means that my videocard is not supported at this time. i have a ati radeon 1950xpro.
i think that the error ocours because of the missing card driver which is not longer supported in jaunty release for this card.
does anyone have an idea?
MSVCR80.dll
by Jeremy Gove on Friday February 6th 2009, 12:08
The program installed, but when I try to run the executable, a window appears saying, "An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly, and WINE complains: 'Could not find dependent assembly L"Microsoft.VC80.CRT"' and '"MSVCR80.dll" failed to initialize, aborting'. I've had errors concerning these files with other programs, too.

You need to install Microsoft Visual C Runtime. The easiest way is install it using winetricks.

I already tried that, but it didn't help. Somehow, deleting my .wine directory, reinstalling WINE and reinstalling the demo made it load. It works up until the point where it says "Initializing(?) Kernel" (ironically) on the character's helmet. Then it has a segmentation fault.

it works! you have to install with winetricks 1st. vcrun2005 and 2nd. vcrun2005sp1

and it works!!!

d3dx9_40.dll
by Jazz on Friday January 23rd 2009, 4:50
How can I get this running? The game asks for d3dx9_40.dll, but I don't have it even in windows copy and the new dx fails to install.

This file is installed automatically by the installer.

Strange, but installer does not install them in clean wineprefix. Can you post any additional information about your wine configuration?

I don't have any additional information.

I created a clean wineprefix and installed the F.E.A.R. 2 Demo inside it. All required files have been created.
