Restaurant Empire

"Starting with nothing except some cash and a passion for food, build a restaurant from the bottom up - hire waiters, decorate, even cook the meals! Buy, build, outsell and underprice your competition.

Will you use your culinary wizardry to out-cook chefs? What tactics and strategies will you employ to buy out the competition? You decide. With a combination of business strategy and role-playing game styles plus a free-form sandbox game mode, three huge cities, and over 30 playable chefs and a host of locations to travel to, Restaurant Empire is an epicurean delight of gastronomic proportions!" - quote source:

What works

Install. Initial animation. 3D graphics. Sound. Tutorial.

What does not

Mouse pointer is attracted to the centre of the screen. Any movement of the mouse results in movement of the pointer but it immediately returns to the centre. The game itself seems to know where the mouse pointer should but draws the pointer in the wrong position.

What was not tested

Play, load, save. Game it self seems to work but was not tested due to cursor problem.

Additional Comments

With some patience (carefully moving the mouse) I was able to start a new game, and play through the tutorial and I saw no other problems. The 3D graphics are even very fast. The sound now also works perfectly. The game seams very close to platinum but because of the mouse pointer problems it is unplayable thus the garbage rating.

by PC LX on Sunday March 18th 2012, 9:56
To prevent the crashes during introduction animation run winecfg and in Libraries tab, set openal32 to "Native(Windows)".
