In current state the game is not playable. I tried to find some useful error message, but without success. Maybe someone? :

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
  • Before Installation, make sure WineTricks is installed, if not use the command wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks, to install. Change the permissions on the file, chmod +x winetricks
  • Use WineTricks to install VCRUN2005 which will install some C++ dll's under the Windows directory.
  • Use WineTricks to install MSI2 (MS Installer 2.0)
  • The open WineCFG, go to Libraries==>MSI, and change it to read BuiltIn then Native.
  • Install Everlight Steps below if it errors out
  • a. Quit Error Dialog box
  • b. Copy over the [cdrom drive]:/Install/Program Files/JoWood" (overwrite)
  • c. Set properties on [~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/JoWood] and every file underneath to Read/Write. (file copied from CDROM are usually read only)

**NOTES**

Now comes the real fun part.

Save game often

Run the game, using the Launcher on the desktop, or if you would like to help to debug it, Go to "C:\Program Files\JoWood\Everlight" and run this command. winedebug=+relay wine "C:\Program Files\JoWood\Everlight\everlight.exe" &> relmsg

The output of any errors will be printed out to a file called "relmsg" for later viewing.
  • a. The program WILL error out eventually, which is why you should save the game often.
  • b. Close the error box (if you can)
b.1. If you can't close the error box, force Wine to close using this command.
b.2. "ps aux | grep wine" from another terminal
b.3. You might get more than one line. If you only get 1 (reading grep wine), then Wine has closed.
  • b.4. If you get more the one line it should show up like this:
  • [your login] 14873 0.0 0.0 5164 832 pts/0 R+ 15:27 0:00 wineserver
  • [your login] 14876 0.0 0.0 5164 832 pts/0 R+ 15:27 0:00 grep wine
 b.5. Use the command "kill -9 [pid number]" thats the number right after your login name.

If you would like to post any error msgs do so, but also post 10 lines above any lines in relmsg above Messagebox line.
