After unzipping the game, make sure the "Xtras" directory has write permissions. This can be set with the command "chmod u+x Xtras" from the game's directory. Under Ubuntu, PulseAudio has been known to cause audio problems during gameplay, which prevents solving the puzzles. Killing it before play (e.g. with the command "pkill pulseaudio") fixes the issue.
