What works

  • Game starts
  • Gameplay works but crashes quite frequently, see "What does not work"

What does not

  • In-game mouse cursors are missing (only the Windows cursor is shown)
  • Copy protection does not work yet (should soon be available in Wine)
  • Frequent crashes in large cities, and occasional crashes in mid-size cities. Definitely Wine-related, as it works in Cedega.
    This is the error message:
    • fixme:dbghelp:pool_alloc OOM
      f: storage.c:331: hash_table_init: Assertion `ht->buckets' failed.
      fixme:dbghelp:SymInitializeW what to do ??

  • Some graphical glitches when using the 'Query'-tool (screen is not correctly redrawn).

  • Installation was not tested. Game was copied over from a Cedega installation.

Additional Comments

Start the game with '-intro:off -d:OpenGL' to get faster loading and smoother gameplay. This test was done with Sim City 4 Deluxe, patched to version 1.1.638.

How to use custom resulutions

By default, SimCity 4 only allows you to use resolutions up to 1280x1024, but it's very easy to use any resolution you want, just add this to your launcher/start script:

-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x32

Replace 1920x1080 with your desired resolution.
