What works

The game can be installed, patched (need to install patch 1.034 & 1.035). You can play the game fairly nicely. Just need to keep shadows turned off, and the client resolution to match your resolution. The mouse does not work in the client right away. You need to run winecfg, click libraries, then overide a dll (dinput8) and set it to native, builtin.

This helps but the when you turn in a circle you get stuck and have to right click to re-centre your mouse again. Turning mouse sensitivity up all the way helps make turning movement more manageable.

my setup is:

Ubuntu 8.10

GeForce 9800 GX2

512ram

driver 177.82

1920 x 1200 resolution

What does not

The patcher doesn't refresh correctly so you need to minimize it then open again from taskbar for changes to take effect.

For me shadows needed to be turned off or the client will not display properly . Also pressing some buttons in the game will cause the client to crash. Adjusting shadows in the game will freeze up the client if you try to enable them.

What was not tested

I haven't done any testing other than getting the client up and running. Someone else has made a small tutorial that can help people get it working.

Additional Comments

This is a fun sandbox mmo with pvp and basically guild empire building in a world that can support up to 10k simultaneous players. It was just released so they definitely have teething pains but looks to have lots of potential. Especially for those who are tired of the so called "care bear" rules other games employ to govern player pvp interaction.
