Game runs fine more or less so far, I believe it requires VB6 and Direct X 9 for it to work. E.g., you must use winetricks.
What does not
There is a memory leak that causes textures not to be loaded, this is fixed by saving and then loading the game. Quick-save / quick load is the preferred method, as once the textures stop being loaded, the textures for the normal save menu are also not loaded. Note that if you start missing textures, save and load before a new area, as travelling to a new area will cause it to hang and crash.
Another bug which may be completely related to AwesomeWM (which is what I use), but if you encounter something similar in gnome or KDE, try as well: First while loading the program, it pops up a Resolution settings dialogue, in awesome, I have to move that dialogue to a new virtual desktop, and then click okay through it, in order to get it to load the actual game. If you click okay on the same window the dialogue pops up in, the game will simply hang.
What was not tested
I have not completed the full game, nor have I specifically tested it through gnome or kde (although I am running gnome-settings-daemon with AwesomeWM 3 (not the latest version however).
I have not tested it in 64bit ubuntu.
I forgot which particular winetricks settings I had to use to get it to run, it was either VB6 or VC2005.
