What works

As long as you have the reworked tef260.ttf or tef265.ttf font (see Greg Hill notes, or instruction below), everything works. I no longer have to do a native dll work-around for the Score->Key Signature up-down arrow to work properly.  I no longer have to remove the windows/winsxs directory for the native dll.

Out of the box , everything works (OK except for reworking the font).

Playback, printing , midi export-import, palette docking,  screen display all work.

What does not

If you use the font provided in the distribution of TablEdit, you will not see the proper symbols. The solution is to open the distribution font with fontforge and do File->Generate Fonts and choose Truetype(symbol) as the type. Place the resulting file in your window/fonts directory.

Additional Comments

I'm upping the rating to Platinum since it does not require any tweaking thru winecfg anymore.

HowTo / Notes

docking palettes

In winecfg under graphics tab, uncheck the option to allow the window manager to control the windows. This solved a problem where the palettes were unable to be docked into the toolbar areas.

This problem has resolved itself in WINE versions  of vintage 0.9.5x or greater.

Printing now works

With the advent of Greg Hill's fontforged tef260.ttf font printing is now correct under WINE.

I had success by putting tef260.ttf along with other core truetype fonts into windows/fonts and printing thru CUPS.

Printing works with version 9.24 when run in winecfg as Win98.

With version 0.9.27 I have to run as W2000 or XP to get printing to work, W98 no longer works for printing.

tef260 font

2013-05-04 Admin note: the information below was extracted from a comment posted by a user in 2006 and may not be applicable to current Wine.

To generate a tef260 font that will work properly, open the font in Fontforge, choose "Generate Fonts" from the file menu. The name appears as "Tef250.ttf" Change this to "tef260.ttf". Below the name of the font is a drop down box of font types. Choose "True Type (Symbol)" and click "Save". A warning box will appear complaining about the Em Size and asking if you want to save it anyway, Choose "Yes". Copy font to .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts and your X11 truetype directory and run as root "fc-cache -v -f", restart Xserver, and enjoy.
