Most of the gameplay works, though you can never be sure you're seeing everything.
What does not
It seems that the other players will commonly (but not always) be invisible.
The game crashes a lot, particularly after using the transport feature or entering your house, but it can happen at any other time as well. This can be quite painful when it happens just as you're entering combat. :(
The crashes seem to be much fewer if you play in first player mode, but since I can't recreate them at will via repeatable in-game actions, it's hard to say if that's a scientific certainty.
What was not tested
Voice chat. (which others say does not work)
System: Kubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-22-generic #32-Ubuntu SMP), Intel X58 w/6GB DDR3-1600 + Intel Core i7 980X + nVidia GTX 465 w/1GB RAM using 256.53-0ubuntu2 drivers. The crashes can at times be so frequent (depending on what you're doing) that this game cannot currently be rated any higher than bronze. If you were a serious player who didn't mind randomly dieing due to crashes or needed to be depended upon in a party, Wine would not be an acceptable solution for playing this game.

Note to all potential players:
A recent update to the item shop being web based has broken it for our fellow Linux users, and the GM's have stated that fixing it will not be of any priority, so I would not expect a fix at all.
The item shop will fail to open on any WINE version. The screen will simply be black or white and will not load. This is due to the publisher (at the time of this writing, Gameforge) forcing a change to the item shop interface to make it easier for them to manage outside of Runewaker (the developer's) involvement.
As of yet, the game is still playable on all current WINE versions and OS's, but the item shop is unable to be used.
A good way around this is to sell your diamonds for gold, then ask a diamond seller in game to buy stuff with the gold. If you get an even trade, you should come out even. Unfortunately trading of diamonds directly is not supported.
