Additional Comments
1. First install Wine using Ubuntu Software Center. 2. Run the following commands in the terminal. rm -f winetricks wget http://winetricks.org/winetricks sudo cp winetricks /usr/bin sudo chmod +x /usr/bin/winetricks 3. Then run this command in terminal. sh winetricks vcrun2005 ie6 wininet dotnet20 // ie6 works better than ie7 or ie8. The above command installs the following windows components// 4. Now take the Runes of Magic setup file, right click and give run with Wine windows program loader. This installs Runes of Magic on your system. 5. Now after installing if you want to take the Runes of Magic folder(If u are using Unity Desktop) click on Ubuntu symbol on the dock and just type 'c'. Now you can see Browse C: Drive folder open the folder. Then open the program files folder and now u can see the Runes of Magic folder. Now open the Runes of Magic.exe using Wine and after updating the game to the latest version you should be able to play. (I'm explaining this in detail so that even the less experienced people can install this. I'm not a linux pro or anything but i try my best.) When i tried Runes of Magic in [Linux Mint 13-Mate] it crashed when ever i teleported in game and i couldn't solve that problem. this should work with any Ubuntu based distros.

Note to all potential players:
A recent update to the item shop being web based has broken it for our fellow Linux users, and the GM's have stated that fixing it will not be of any priority, so I would not expect a fix at all.
The item shop will fail to open on any WINE version. The screen will simply be black or white and will not load. This is due to the publisher (at the time of this writing, Gameforge) forcing a change to the item shop interface to make it easier for them to manage outside of Runewaker (the developer's) involvement.
As of yet, the game is still playable on all current WINE versions and OS's, but the item shop is unable to be used.
A good way around this is to sell your diamonds for gold, then ask a diamond seller in game to buy stuff with the gold. If you get an even trade, you should come out even. Unfortunately trading of diamonds directly is not supported.
