Game menu sounds.
What does not
Game menu graphics, and everything after that.
What was not tested
NB: After upgrading wine to version 1.1.18 and using a sufficiently small virtual desktop (like 1024x768), the game runs perfectly. The pidl error message is still displayed in terminal, indicating it had nothing to do with the problems. See test results from 2009-03-30. It is probably that the same method would make it work with wine 1.1.17, but I haven't tested it. +++++ Installation works flawlessly (when running Autorun.exe; ceaw_gold_setup.exe directly didn't work), creating .lnk and .desktop shortcuts to start the game. There is no single .exe file to start from, since the game is built and runs in java. The contents of the .desktop file can be converted into a shell script and run in terminal to see helpful (?) output. When running the shell script (or .desktop shortcut) selections for game type and low/high performance settings can be made; the intro plays fine, after which the screen returns to the Linux desktop manager. However, music (likely for the game menu) is still playing and the process appears to still be alive (still consuming resources according to top.) No graphics is displayed. Terminal outputs, amongst many fixme lines, the following error message: err:pidl:_ILCreateGuidFromStrW L"DelegateFolders" is not a GUID Speculation: there may be a problem with running the bundled java implementation, or the way it displays graphics.
