Category: Main Games Strategy Games BattleForge 1.2 #285875 Retail Branch

From Battleforge Site: "Welcome to the Renegade Edition! Here you will find cards that alter your perception of the BattleForge Universe and seemingly bend its natural laws to near breaking point! Gone are the days where cards were limited to one single Orb color; Dual Orb cards have now come into play in the form of the Bandit and Stonekin factions. In addition to this, “Affinities” have been introduced to bring a taste of other colors to your deck and allow you to fine tune it to your specific needs and exacting standards. Dual Orb Cards: Dual Orb cards require players to have Orbs of two specific colors before they will be able to play the card. This potentially makes the cards a bit more difficult to play, but it adds some extra spice and gives you interesting new ways to master a map and improve your deck's dynamics. Factions: For generations, the Bandits have ruled the roost in the Wastelands. That is of course until now! The Stonekin have entered the Wastelands, seeking their Master’s treasure and the Bandits see this as a challenge to their lands! The introduction of Dual Orb cards has brought with it two new factions, Bandits and Stonekin. The Bandits' Dual Orb cards require you to have both a Fire and Shadow Orbs, while the Stonekin’s Dual Orb cards require you to have both Frost and Nature Orbs. Affinities: With the introduction of affinities, certain cards now carry additional abilities that would not typically be associated with their color. Cards which have a Nature ability are described as being “Gifted”, cards with Frost abilities are considered “Blessed”, cards with a Fire ability are “Infused” and cards that have a Shadow ability will be called “Tainted”. Legendary units: Some of the distinctive characters you already know from the Renegade campaign make their comeback to join forces with you once again. Command Rogan, Viridya and Mo to lay waste upon your enemies and victory will be yours! Random Map Generator: Do you want to chill out for a bit and just play on a map where pre-planned map strategies cannot be employed? Well, the Random Map Generator sounds like just the thing for you. With this tool, the game will create new maps for you to play each time you choose to play a Randomly Generated Map!"

What works

Everything as intended, except three minor things (see what doesnt work).

What does not

1. Can not scroll the map (game breaker) in windowed mode.  Mouse-edge map scrolling does work in fullscreen mode.

2. Keep Shader detail to low, but the rest of graphic settings seemed ok maxed. Shader on high left extensive issues with shademaps that turned units and maps partially black.

3. Tabbing out of the window means you need to kill the game.  You can hear the sounds, but can't return to the video.

Proof it works:

What was not tested

Additional Comments

Updated wine, wine_gecko, and used winetricks from the CS4 Master Collection discussion and this worked. Used to have problems with bootstrapper freezing at 9% as mentioned here, but upgrades fixed problem. Screenshots: (character select) (battle forge)
