Sling have released a Firefox plugin that connects to a Slingbox in the same way that the SlingPlayer should.
There is also an IE plugin available.
The plugin is intended for Windows users who do not have admin access. This is not an issue under Wine so using the true Slingplayer makes more sense.
It will disconnect an existing sling connection
What does not
As soon as it starts to display the remote its stops and says and "error has occured"
