It is recommended to use a Windows version of riched20.dll, but it is possible to use the Wine version of it. The main difference is that Wine's DLL does not honour the left margin, so text is displayed there as well, but that area is not redrawn properly.
To use the Windows version, place riched20.dll in Wine's windows/system32 directory (usually ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32), then add a DLL override so 'wordpad.exe' uses native 'riched20'.
To be able to use WordPad, add a DLL override for 'wordpad.exe', or start it with 'WINEDLLOVERRIDES=wordpad.exe=n wine wordpad.exe'.
