What works

Generally, playing the game on highest settings with a joypad works very good.
Started a career, played to ~30% completion and tested the following:

  • Navigating through the menus
  • Races: Sprint, Curcuit, Drift, Speed trap, and others.
    • Accepted from (main) menu, free roam or spontaneous duels
  • Tuning and especially preview of the optics
  • Changing key bindings¹, video, audio and other settings
  • Video performance: Generally 50-60 fps

    • Highest settings
    • Working VFX, motion blur when speeding

What does not

What was not tested

  • Multiplayer
  • Not played till the end but seen most of the map and car models/textures

Hardware tested

  • GPU: AMD
  • Driver: open source

Additional Comments

Tested on AMD Radeon RX580 with amdgpu, Mesa 18.2.6, kernel 4.18.20. Running KDE Plasma 5.14.3 and vanilla Wine 3.21-staging, no DLL overrides.

¹: There was a small incompatibility in Wine with my Joystick, a Cyborg V3 Rumble Pad. Wine creates two joystick configs for it - js and event. Pressing the R2 button would constantly pause the game if it used event. Fixed it by setting a key config for the js controller only, leaving event as it was.

On KDE, two things should be done:

  1. Disable compositing for the game window, otherwise you get 10-15 fps.
  2. Enable virtual desktop 1280x1024, otherwise all your desktop icons will be "compressed" into a 1280x1024 area when you leave the game.

for this game to work perfectly you need d3dx9 and vcrun2005 and 2008 and dotnet20 to be installed using winetrick which can be found on this link

then copy what you see in that page then paste it in an empty file then right click on that file and then click on permission tab then check the box that said allow to be excuted as program then  run that file. after that you will get a list of applications install the things that i mention above
