Additional Comments

Modpack 8.0.1 NC, Sun jre v7+ modpack requires a jre for installation. Sun jre v6 didn't work as it didn't support unzipping large zips. Initially Sun jre v7 threw an exception as I didn't have zip or unzip installed. I didn't need to install a .NET implementation beside Mono, which had automatically installed after a prompt when the .wine directory was created (I'm not sure if Mono was necessary for the modpack, but the other commenters appear to say so). Modpack appeared to fix: *Occasional segfault when toggling anti-aliasing. *Game hanging on exit. *My initial 32 bit chroot securom issue. Maybe from within the chroot the game had reduced access to the mounted disk? Something was fishy here. Before the modpack I had issues with all of the above, which were due to the game and not wine. wine version is wine-1.7.6-180-g48ae431 (a week or so later 1.7.7 came). Used WoW64 setup with 32 bit chroot to build and run the 32 bit wine within [tricky!]. I also chose to run the game within its own xserver as it didn't play well with my window manager. The game is best ran in fullscreen 800x600 due to a lack of a "zoom" feature in the game (1280x1024 was terrible as the company didn't put a sufficient amount of man-hours into the game). Tested with both NVIDIA and nouveau drivers.
