I managed to prevent the game from crashing at particular cutscenes by navigating to the "CSI NY" Program Files Directory and finding the cutscene causing the problem (you may want to watch it in a video player), renaming the cutscene to "whatever.avi_old", making a copy of "legacy.avi" and renaming the copy to the name of the troublesome cutscene. The game then displays legacy.avi instead of the cutscene that's causing the crash. Admin note: rating changed to conform to rating definitions.
