Additional Comments
Works perfectly, the only problem I had was every now and then textures would clip in menus and render improperly but it was nothing that effected gameplay. It went a little slow in game on my computer so I recommend not playing with an intel video card or the video card has less than 128mb of vram. Other than that it's fine.

Luma is well aware of this error and has provided at fix at http://www.mini37.com/#Player%20downloads
As a solution, they've changed the video format to Mpeg-4 and included the codec installers for systems that do not already have them.
With the upgrade of ubuntu 9.04 there have been many regressions in 3D game performance. There are two solutions to this
1) Download the intel-2.4 video driver packages or
2) Upgrade the driver and linux kernels to newer versions
The new intel video drivers only cause regressions because of the 2.6.28 kernel packaged with ubuntu 9.04. You can increase your speed by upgrading the kernel to the 2.6.30 series (release candidates 2 and up work just fine, too) to get smooth performance. If you do decide to just downgrade the graphics driver, it is ill advided because while some games will go smoother and mini #37 works fine in menus, the 3D graphics in game will run very slowly unless you are the only car on screen.
An HP Compaq tc4400 with a 128mb Intel GM950, ubuntu 9.04, linux kernel 2.6.30-rc7, and xorg-video-intel 2.7.0 runs Mini #37 at an average of 45-60 fps with all four cars on screen.
You can download the latest kernel .deb packages at http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
While this fix works in ubuntu, it also works in any debian based distro for other people having problems with their intel video cards.
