What works

Installation, game menu, gameplay

What does not

Intro Video

Performance of playback of the intro video before you get to the menu screen is very poor. It takes a very long time (a few minutes) before the video starts playing, and then once it starts it does not play smoothly. Even if you want to skip the video, it doesn't always register the keypress in reasonable time (but it does after an agonising delay).

Video Mode

Low resolution mode didn't work, but setting the graphics option to 3D in the in-game settings menu resolved the problem (and also offers the best gameplay experience).

Ending a race

Once you complete a race, at the 'finished' screen you have to press a key (I use the enter key) to return to the menu. It is supposed to return to the menu immediately but I found that it would only go back to the menu if I pressed ALT+TAB (just once, switching to the next application seemed to do the trick after a short delay - I don't think it has to be the London Racer 'menu' application, even the terminal or web browser will do, the menu then reappears by itself).

If you wish to quit a race early or are using an unlimited mode like time trial using the escape, it is tricky to get the menu to show again. You have to be a bit patient and press some combination of ALT + TAB, escape and Y in the right order at exactly the right time. I haven't quite figured out what the magic combination is, but I find that I press ESCAPE, then Y, then ALT+TAB, to select any other window, then ALT+TAB to get back to the London Racer racing window and press ESCAPE + Y as quickly as possible whilst its still trying to switch back to the race screen. When you get the timing exactly right, the menu reappears after about 5-10 seconds. A bit infuriating but eventually with enough fiddling it does get back to the menu.

Additional Comments

There is a glitch in the menu when you select a car, after changing a car the 3D rotating image of the car disappears. However if my memory serves correctly this sometimes happens under Windows too.
