The reason I start changing os is because. It said that ntdll was causing problem from the terminal when look at the backtrace so i figure I switch to window me since it is not nt based windows but using the window me in winecfg crash but with a different error in the console I also try 98, 95 they crash simmilarly so i figure I try window 2003 since it is one of the early version of nt-based system I think.

I played in full screen and windowed mode and even though my Linux resolution is set to 1280x800, PvZ did not change my system's resolution.

Also, I see you have 16:10 display. If you experience ratio distortion, you sometimes can fix it by using xrandr props magic.

If you don't want to resize your desktop (yuck), just turn off full screen mode and play in a window. You kind of have to figure out where the "real" mouse cursor is relative to the one displayed, but it seems to work perfectly afterward.

Plants vs Zombies crashes on me as soon as I press any button on the keyboard. It just dies silently, and also strangely enough nothing else seems to work with steam (with previous attempts). I'm running openSUSE 11.2 x86_64, wine 1.1.41, and have not yet modified my wine configuration by much. I installed the Microsoft core fonts through winetricks, installed steam, installed PVZ, and thats about it.
Does anyone know anything about this issue that might be helpful, or should I submit a bug report? (Also if I am to submit a bug report, what information should I include that'll make it useful?)

First, until Wine 1.1.25, PvZ wouldn't launch. That was resolved in 1.1.25, I don't have the related bug handy but know that you need 1.1.25 in order to even launch most (if not all) Steam-based games.
Next, once 1.1.25 was released, PvZ would launch, but instead of going full screen as it did before, it was in the lower-left corner of my screen and the resolution didn't change to 800x600. Moreover, it didn't respond to mouse input.
Here's how I resolved the 2nd issue:
1) Set your Linux (not Wine) resolution to 800x600
2) Run the game, which should now be working
3) In the Options menu, the 3D acceleration check box - which I was unable to get set before - is somehow checked now. Uncheck 3D acceleration, as this seems to be what was breaking things for me.
4) You can exit PvZ (and Steam), then reset your desktop resolution back to whatever you had before.
5) Relaunch PvZ and enjoy!
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
CJC

1. Open the wine registry editor
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER--> Software--> SteamPopCap--> PlantsVsZombies
3. Change ScreenMode to 0

FAQ
Q:
My screen is all black when I launch the game.
A:
I did have some minor problems like, not being able to see anything on the screen when I launched the game, but that was because of my screen resolution and I did turn the resolution from 1280 x 800 down to 800 x 600 and that did the trick when I were in the menu I could go to option and check of the full screen, and then I could return to my normal resolution. and know go in and out of the games as I pleased without having to set down my resolution
