Tested using an AMD (nee ATi) Mobility Radeon 5800 series video card, using both FOSS (free) and non-free drivers.
Installer works correctly.
Updating the program in-client works correctly.
Uninstaller works correctly.
In-client chat works correctly. Invites, changes of clothing, and changes of setting (room) all take place without a problem. Multiple tabs work correctly, although heavy graphic use in multiple tabs may slow down the client. Inbox messaging from in-client works correctly. Public rooms load correctly.
What does not
Can not identify any features that do not work.
What was not tested
"Our Room" feature was not tested.
"Walk-Off" feature was not tested.
In Advanced Settings, be sure to set graphics to OpenGL. If you attempt to use Direct3D, the client will behave erratically and will likely terminate.

[Note: A windows 7 would be nice to pull dll's from if you are dual booting or using wubi or like I was using virtualbox and just networked a shared folder to get the dll's I needed]
Step 1 - Install Playonlinux through Ubuntu Software Center
Step 2 - download the full install of imvu's client from the link provided here
Step 3 - Click on Install you can use the default wine prefix that is 1.4.1(System works) and then configure the prefix to be Windows 7/XP.
Step 4 - Give it a run see if it works, two errors pop up but if you just okay them it loads up.
If the fonts in game look distorted, make sure you install the "ttf-mscorefonts-installer" package, as this provides the windows fonts used by IMVU. You can install it easily on Debian/Ubuntu based distros by using the following command in the terminal ("Ctrl+Alt+T" is a keyboard shortcut to open it):
sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer
You should be prompted to enter your password for sudo as usual.
