HowTo / Notes

HOWTO

(Updated 2011-7-29)

The problem of Access not starting up was fixed in 1.3.14.  A fresh install in 1.3.14 (or later) is needed.

Basic functions, including templates, work without tweaks in 1.3.25. To get forms to work, install winetricks vb6run, then open winecfg and add a native, builtin override for oleaut32.dll for msaccess.exe only. Do not set this override globally, as it will cause Word to crash when attempting to use the clip organizer (and may cause other problems).

Resolving C++ Library Issue at Launch
by James Leone on Wednesday July 2nd 2014, 14:14
I can confirm that the solution found by Bruce Turrie in the below link resolved this issue for me.

    From: turriebuntu.wordpress.com/2012/10/04/ms-access-2007-crashes-under-crossover-c-error-r6034/

"This removes the dependency causing the problem. Not sure yet what if any features are lost. But access 2007 runs now.

    1. Open the folder where the Office 2007 is installed (e.g.: ~/.cxoffice/Microsoft Office 2007/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office12)
2.Copy and then paste (create a backup) msaccess.exe.manifest
    3. Edit the file msaccess.exe.manifest with with [1]gedit text editor
    4. find and delete the text block:

    5. save the file

[1] I used Kwrite in KDE 3, editor choice is not essential to the solution (and almost not worth mentioning except it may benefit an unexperienced user)

The item to remove that won't show up on this web page because it contains use of "" in it.. I represented both as as "[" and "]" below:

    [/assemblyIdentity][/dependentAssembly][/dependency][dependency][dependentAssembly][assemblyIdentity type="win32" name="AceDAO" version="12.0.0.0" language="*" processorArchitecture="X86"]
