What works

Launching the program, playing music, volume controls, and using the equalizer, amplifier, reverb and some options, like creating desktop icons etc. MOD pattern display work as long as the Track info/Extended Playlist window works (see "What does not work" section).

What does not

When you launch the program you get an error about the font LUCIDA CONSOLE being missing. The program changes automatically to ARIAL instead with the warning that "it will probably not look correct". The track info/extended playlist window disappears randomly if you do not close it yourself before moving the program window or taking the program out of focus. If it has disappeared it won't reappear even if you click the button to close and reopen it until you restart the program. The equalizer/pre-amp/reverb and playlist queue "wings" do stay on top even when you let another program take focus, and the playlist queue window/"wing" stay focused and on top even when you minimize the program. Most options do not work, when you change tabs you get a warning that you are about to discard your changes (when using Windows, the changes are applied when you make them, only one tab have an "Apply" button). The options window disappear if you minimize XMPlay with the window open, and can not be reopened. The windows flicker when you move them, and if you try to move the playlist queue window when it's alone on the screen (when everything else is minimized) it jumps around randomly on the screen, not related to the actual mouse movements. At times the entire program window will jump around on the screen.

Workarounds

What was not tested

minimize to tray icon (that resulted in the program window and icon disappearing and not being able to be restored in earlier Wine versions), running multiple instances, exporting to wav (using wave exporter as output plug-in), winamp plug-ins, unofficial plug-ins, the other visualization options beside Mod Pattern Display.
