Small lug before any sound starts (fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x3c488d8,0x3c495e0): stub); installer fails; Patch installer opens Wordpad with ReadME. It's corrupted. I see only 20 pages.

You need put this patch into WA directory: http://rapidshare.com/files/258558692/ddraw_and_user32_patches_for_wine_1.1.26.tar.gz . After this, run regedit, open HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D and create "DirectDrawDesktopHack"="true". I made this files with this patch: http://glados.iwanek.co.uk/dokuwiki/projects/wine-hacks/ddraw . Not hard to use old patch file with new Wine. Old versions of Wine need patch for user32: just comment by double / (//) string "if (hwnd == GetActiveWindow()) WINPOS_ActivateOtherWindow( hwnd );" in dlls/user32/dialog.c.

• Use a recent Wine, 1.1.39 works fine
  
• Apply this hack* (made for 1.1.39) and compile Wine from source
  
• Update WA to to the latest beta version (tested with 3.6.29.0)
• Configure Wine to be in desktop mode with the desired resolution you want to play in (optional but recommended)
  
• Remember to use GDI as the DirectDrawRenderer rather than OpenGL, otherwise you'll get the same black screen bug even with the patch:

Some known problems:

• When failing a mission or completing a ranked deathmatch game and returning to the menu you can't click on anything and hitting ESC will get you back to the main menu but the game will instantly crash.
• If you run WA in real fullscreen with no wine desktop you need to ALT-TAB in each menu to get a focus.
