Worms Armageddon

What works

Sound, Menus and game play all work as far as i can "hear". i managed to blindly get into a game. i could jump open weapons draw and fire I could also walking into mines :)

What does not

Only shows a blank black screen ie graphics doesn't show. I think this has something to do with a DirectDrawRenderer bug.

I did not test with any winetrick installs as i dont know what I should install to make a difference.

Additional Comments

Using http://winebottler.kronenberg.org to run Wine. As far as i can tell the game works perfect only i cant see anything. I think this is a DirectDrawRenderer bug. I did try some ddraw.dll hack but didn't work. I wasn't hopeful anyway as the .dll patch provided by http://worms2d.info/Installing_WA_on_Linux,_using_Wine_(Sold_Out_Software) hasn't been updated since 2007

• Use a recent Wine, 1.1.39 works fine
  
• Apply this hack* (made for 1.1.39) and compile Wine from source
  
• Update WA to to the latest beta version (tested with 3.6.29.0)
• Configure Wine to be in desktop mode with the desired resolution you want to play in (optional but recommended)
  
• Remember to use GDI as the DirectDrawRenderer rather than OpenGL, otherwise you'll get the same black screen bug even with the patch:

Some known problems:

• When failing a mission or completing a ranked deathmatch game and returning to the menu you can't click on anything and hitting ESC will get you back to the main menu but the game will instantly crash.
• If you run WA in real fullscreen with no wine desktop you need to ALT-TAB in each menu to get a focus.
