The Witcher

What works

Installation works. (with 64-bit WINEPREFIX and WINEARCH=wine64)

But It is hard to lauch laucher.exe program without bugs, it is the same thing under Windows 8.1

In Windows 8.1, I can use the Witcher only with optimus ( so I must use nvidia graphic card), but I can use only Intel graphic card on winehq, so I cannot use nvidia graphic card with this game.

To install the Witcher enhanced version (DVD VERSION):

1) lauch setup.exe. Do not lauch game.

2)on windows folder, lauch vcredis_x86.exe inside vcredist2005.

3)On windows folder, launch vcredist_x86.exe to repair vcredist2005

What does not

1) you nust not lauch laucher.exe immediatly.
laucher.exe crashes.
to work around the problem, I use winetricks and I install d3dx11_43. (MS d3dx11_43.dll).
With winetricks, I must install vc2008express (MS Visual C++ 2008 Express), and vc2008express install automaticly dotnet35 (MS.NET 3.5) to have a chance to launch launcher.exe file. (windows version is changed: windows 7 to windows xp).
Note: if I install vcrun2005 or vcrun2008 from winetricks, it do not work)
But when whinehq is updated, launcher.exe crashes.
If there is a crashes, reboot computer.
(You must lauch witcher.exe in System folder, inside The Witcher Enhanced Edition folder, i have not tested this workaround, when launcher.exe crashes. with winetricks. You must use taskmgr to navigate and launch launcher.exe )

2) optirun and primusrun do not work. Only Intel card works (optimus technology)

Additional Comments

I think that launcher.exe crashes because it has a link with editor game (D'jinni).

 Interface of D'jinni  looks like visual studio 2008, and  when I install vc2008express, I have not the problem with launcher.exe ( if crash, reboot computer)(but If I install new programs or winehq is updated, launcer.exe crashes)

6) use winetricks to launch taskmgr, navigate to find launcher.exe and run it.

Note: If it has a crashes, restart computer.

If you are hit by bug #34052 (invisible character models), or flickering, set this key in the registry as a workaround (it happens on closed Nvidia driver, and to some on Mesa / Intel. It didn't happen to me with Mesa / radeonsi):

CheckFloatConstants="enabled"

Another similar issue is bug #46553 when some textures turn black indoors. For now, install  d3dx9_35 native override to work around that.
