What works
Installation: If you have The Witcher 1.0 you HAVE to update to 1.4 and then 1.5 to get rid of DRM. The game content is then more enjoyable, too. Many bugs from 1.0 are eliminated. When updating, watch out to download recent patches from CDPROJEKT. Old patch releases require an online-authentification which isn't supported anymore. Game: Works with reduced speed. So I had to reduce Texture-Quality. Health bar, endurance bar and toxicity bar are working flawlessly since Wine 1.7.6.
What does not
Sometimes when I start the game, I get a texture bug or the "puppet-string" bug. Restarting the game gets it usually fixed. If not, change to "OffscreenRenderingMode = backbuffer" and then back to "OffscreenRenderingMode = fbo" This bug is already obvious in the starting menu. When you see birds flying, everything has loaded correctly and you can play the game just fine. In higher texture settings the game randomly freezed and I was forced to reset the computer. Leaving texture settings to "low" fixed that for me. Everything else was maxed out, so the game looks okay.

If you are hit by bug #34052 (invisible character models), or flickering, set this key in the registry as a workaround (it happens on closed Nvidia driver, and to some on Mesa / Intel. It didn't happen to me with Mesa / radeonsi):
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D] CheckFloatConstants="enabled"
Another similar issue is bug #46553 when some textures turn black indoors. For now, install d3dx9_35 native override to work around that.

`winetricks -q ie6`
You need a 32-bit wineprefix for it to install, though.
