WineHQ

WordPad

A cut-down version of MS Word. Wordpad ran with wordpad.exe, mfc42u.dll, riched20.dll and msvcrt.dll copied from XP. Wine 20030219. (Wouldn\'t run with builtin msvcrt.dll: wcstod unimplemented.) Lots of functionality missing... particularly bad at loading existing Word docs.

Almost everything. The left margin is honored with wine 1.1.26 and has been so since 0.9.45.

What does not

.wri files, some fonts seemed a bit messed up but completely usable. Some .doc files don't load up for some reason but most work fine.

Workarounds

HowTo / Notes

HOWTO
Place mfc42u.dll in Wine's windows/system32 directory (usually .wine/drive_c/windows/system32)
Add a dll override so Wine uses native 'wordpad.exe', or start WordPad with 'WINEDLLOVERRIDES=wordpad.exe=n wine wordpad'.
