The problem appears to be related to an incompatibility between the Wine file system and the file system on the Corel Compact Disk. This is a guess by a programmer who is NOT an expert in file systems, so it could easily be wrong.
The installation works perfectly if you first copy the entire Compact Disk to the hard drive. You need to make a symbolic link to the area on the drive that you copied compact disk to so that it thinks that it is looking at Compact Disk Drive. The root directory of my compact disk had a directory called "corel" so that was what was showing in the root directory of my fake compact disk drive. (My Corel CD was actually a Mother Board CD, the mother board died a long, long, time ago).
Ignore the .LNK files. Instead use Dolphin or it's equivalent (I'm running KUbuntu) and go to the directory corel\suite8\appman\setup\setup.exe and run it. From here the installation should run fine.
What does not
Installing from the Compact Disc.
Installing using the Microsoft Windows .LNKfiles.
Quattro Pro. I could not get it running.
What was not tested
I think that Quattro Pro could be gotten running with minor modifications. It looks like it is a minor setting issue, but since my concern was Word Perfect I've left it alone.
