just launch the game from file CM2010.exe instead of using launcher (default option)

There appears to be some problem with the save games. In that it will allow you to create them, but not ask you to load them when starting the game again.
I've just found you can load a saved game by calling the program followed by your save game location.
So in my case it was, from the CM_2010 folder:
wine ./CM2010.exe /home/lee/Eidos/Championship\ Manager\ 2010/Save\ Games/Lee\ 1\ Torquay.CM2010-SaveGame
