What works

  • Fresh install
  • Upgrade (5.8.16 --> 6.6.38)
  • All options tested (except some app bugs)
  • SETI@Home graphics
  • SIMAP WU completed and validated
  • Connecting to remote hosts

What does not

  • Service install fails
  • Priority (niceness) not set
  • When the client is started on Manager start, it can fail to connect and has to be told to do so again manually, despite the client starting successfully
  • Text is truncated in many areas
  • GUI crashed once (but client continued), not clear why. May have been related to RAS (the log suggests this as does the previous test result). Cannot recreate.
  • Uninstall claims to complete "install" and at the same time claims there was a problem. The Program Files directories are removed but the users/Public directories remain. Not sure if this intentional or not.

BOINC is available for your platform

BOINC is available for a wide array of platforms, and a lot of platforms are supported by the projects. You are probably better off asking a project to support your platform than using Wine to translate Windows calls.

It should be possible to use a native BOINC and run a Windows executable with Wine if absolutely necessary.

Test results for BOINC are still welcome as they help developers with Wine.
