What works
Installation on older Wine versions (post 1.0 but somewhere before 1.1.29) would fail due to a directory name being in Japanese and, presumably, Unicode. (The manufacturer is Japanese.) I don't know when this was fixed in Wine, but I downloaded 1.1.29 today and it installed flawlessly. This did not affect the program's operation, so if the InstallShield package was broken down and the program installed by hand, it worked fine.
I have not tested the serial connection to the radio yet (it's at work connected to a winblows machine!), but expect no problems outside of those I had with the CS-D800 software for the ID-800H radio, to wit: make sure you tell Wine where your serial port is (USB->serial or real RS-232).
This program is very simple, with no DRM, so expect no problems with future Wine versions.
What does not
Nothing! :)
Workarounds
What was not tested
As mentioned above, the serial connection to the radio, but I expect no trouble. To repeat: make sure Wine knows where your serial port is. Directions are in the Wine docs.

Additional Comments
As I mentioned above, this is the manufacturer's software for programming the radio. There is also at least one 3rd-party program out there, also retail/closed-source, but I'm told is better; maybe I'll get it next time. As this radio is now discontinued, it may be appearing free (outside various illegal torrents) in the future.
